Haley stepped inside her front door and immediately slipped out of her heels. She’d been running around all day and had barely even sat at her desk. Between the ongoing interviews with Josh and CEO prospects and running to Tomorrow’s Leaders to greet the newest recipients, Haley’s feet were killing her.

She’d also missed lunch and the time had well passed any normal dinner schedule. Perhaps she should just pop open a bottle of Pinot and relax in a hot bubble bath. She definitely hadn’t taken enough personal time lately with all the spare time she’d been spending with Chase.

Not that she was at all sorry. Her feelings for him were growing each time they were together. Granted, intimacy had a tendency to force people together at least in an emotional manner. Haley didn’t do flings and she didn’t take sex lightly. If she hadn’t had some deeper pull toward Chase, she never would have slept with him.

She hadn’t seen him since she’d left his house the other night after he’d blown her mind on his living room couch. They’d texted, but they’d both been busy with work... At least she assumed that’s what he’d been busy with.

Haley bent to retrieve her shoes as she made her way toward her master suite. The next thing to go after the shoes was always the bra. She was so done with this day. While she’d accomplished quite a bit, she had run out of steam.

Her cell chimed in the purse she still had over her shoulder. With a groan, she stepped into her room and tossed her purse onto her bed before digging out her phone.

Marcus’s name lit up her screen. With a sigh, she swiped the screen and made her way into her adjoining bath.

“I just left you,” she said in lieu of a hello. “Is something wrong?”

“Not at all,” Marcus replied. “In fact, everything is rather amazing. We had an anonymous donor just give enough to cover all of the textbooks for each of the new recipients starting college in the fall. The amount also covers anything else they may need as far as laptops, notebooks and individual class fees. There’s also a buffer amount for anything that may have been overlooked.”

Stunned, Haley turned and sank down onto the edge of her bed. “Who paid for all of that?”

“The money came in electronically with a detailed note of what to purchase for the incoming students,” Marcus explained. “There was also a message stating that there would be more donations at the beginning of each quarter for new classes. But honestly, that padded amount that’s left would more than cover an entire year. I don’t know who this guy is, but he’s certainly invested in Tomorrow’s Leaders. I mean, I’m glad, but I wish we knew who to thank properly.”

Yeah, she did, too, but she also had a good idea who would suddenly be invested in her beloved charity. Not that she would divulge that information to anyone, not even her right-hand man.
