Chapter Fifteen

Amelia

“Hello, welcome to The Play Spot,” Amelia smiled at the couple walking up to her desk. They were regulars so all Amelia had to do was get them signed in and supply them with colored bracelets while chatting. She'd been working at The Play Spot for about two weeks now and Amelia loved it. Her coworkers were all so nice and amazing. Bertha had trained her and expressed how well Amelia had instantly taken to the job. But, really, it was rather easy. All Amelia really had to do was keep the lobby clean, stocked and help the clients who came in. The only thing she had a little bit of trouble with was when anyone asked for a full tour but Derek had explained that he preferred to do the first tour himself to determine whether they were serious or just looking for cheap thrills..

She loved it. Although what she loved even more was working with her man. Derek would come out to the club from his office halfway through her shift and would eat dinner with her and then they would spend time in the Imagination Room. Usually her dinners were about an hour long but sometimes they'd spend a little longer in the room as no one really came in after 10 at night. He picked her up every day at her apartment, and dropped her off there after they finished work. Yes, despite that wonderful first night, she was still sleeping in her own apartment. They spent time together at work but he hadn't asked Amelia to spend the night again.

She hated it and it made her worry.

The last two weeks she'd had almost non-stop nightmares, leaving her terrified and shaky. Some were about Clarence, and some were about her grandmother but most were about losing Derek in some fashion.

She hadn't mentioned anything to Derek during their texting or when he took her out for dates. He constantly checked in with her when she wasn't with him. It was very sweet but it was starting to mess with Amelia's head. She was beginning to think that maybe Derek didn't want to be serious with her. And what was almost worse, all the stress and worry was affecting her ability to slip into Little Space. Even Mark had commented that she looked tired. Plus, Amy had said she'd stop by and they could play for a bit but then she'd texted saying she couldn't make it. Amelia was starting to worry about Amy more and more; she would make plans then cancel them at the last minute.

Maybe she doesn't want to be your friend.

Tomorrow was Saturday and it was their day off. Amelia had a session with her therapist, and Derek had said he'd have a surprise ready for her when she was done. He'd asked Amelia to come spend the night at his place and she'd eagerly agreed. Amelia sighed to herself as she mopped the tile floor. It was eight pm and no one had come in for the last hour and that was giving her plenty of time to worry.
