Chapter 13

As far as mistakes went, waking up in Russ’s bed would probably rank among the top ten biggest mistakes of Cassius’s life. His body still tingled and hummed from the hours of indescribable pleasure and his muscles were gloriously loose but Cassius’s conscience had complaints. Casssius opened his eyes and smiled. Then he groaned when he remembered why he was smiling at the massive, elegant canopy of a bed he didn’t recognize and scrubbed his face.

“I know. It’s terrible,” Russ agreed. Cassius rolled his head to the left and frowned at Russ.

“Why are you still here?” He asked and Russ snorted.

“It’s my room. I’d hoped you had already snuck out but you were still here when I opened my eyes a few minutes ago.”

“It would have been polite of you to leave since you woke up first.”

“Probably,” Russ conceded. The bedroom door opened and Russ grunted and squeezed his eyes shut as if he’d been kicked in the balls. “It looks like I’ll be needing a second tray, Inez. I’ve got company,” he said with a sigh. Cassius rolled so he could hide his face but he could practically hear Inez cursing them.

“It’s none of my business, Mr. Dorian, but you have got to be kidding me,” she muttered as she set the tray on the upholstered ottoman at the foot of the bed. Everything was in shades of deep, decadent eggplant and the room was almost as dark as night until she threw the curtains open. “Look at what happened the last time you got involved with the Ambrose brothers.”

“If you could please bring Cassius’s breakfast and his coffee. I’ll dress myself,” Russ said, his tone bored and dismissive but Cassius sensed his irritation. But it wasn’t with Inez. She left in a huff and shut the door loudly behind her. Cassius rolled back onto his side and Russ was propped up on his elbow, watching him. “Now everyone knows,” Russ complained and Cassius frowned back at him.

“Inez isn’t everyone.”

“Everyone that matters to me,” Russ countered, distracted as he rubbed the stubble along his jaw. Cassius had seen Russ in a bikini by the pool and he’d seen him drunk and disheveled after a long day, but he’d never seen Russ in the morning before he’d groomed and put on his elegant armor. Russ’s hair was wild from their shower and from falling asleep with Cassius’s fingers tangled in it. Cassius thought he was even more beautiful. “My friends expect me to sleep with you because they think I’m irredeemable but Inez expects more from me,” he told Cassius before he threw back the duvet and sat up. He was still naked but he stood and casually strolled over to the tray and bent so he could pluck a strawberry from his fruit salad. Russ popped it into his mouth and picked up his tea cup. There was a hard exhale that might have been an expletive before Russ sipped and padded into the closet. It hadn’t occurred to Cassius that Russ might be ashamed of getting caught with him.
