Chapter Seven

Hawk

The Chaos Riders are on my shit list.

Not just because they are hurting women—innocent women as young as twelve—and crossing borders to do it. Or because I hate their drug trade. They are pissing me off because they are getting in my fucking way.

I was literal steps from making it official. Making Harlow my old lady. When Rock and Crank came in, I knew I had to wait. Two young girls had come to them for protection and that means our plans need to speed up.

Now I am in Church—without my girl—talking about what comes next. How we handle them snatching two girls from our part of Haven and turning them out. They are addicts at fifteen and fourteen, beaten and battered, raped for days by Chaos Rider scum and their clientele.

“I want them dead,” Prez roars as he paces in at the head of the table we sit at. He takes his seat and puffs on a joint, shaking his head. “Dead and gone. Fuck a peace treaty. Fuck them and their filthy dealings. Taking little girls and doing that to them,” Reaper has a temper, but tries to lead the club down the right path. I’ve never seen him rage this way—he is dangerous now.

“We knew it was coming to a head. The peace would never last with them doing their dirt here in Haven. They do not care about the town or the people here. Our deals never touch the people here,” Lean is livid too, bouncing a little in his seat as we all murmur and agree.

We discussed this two days ago and all that has changed since then is the collateral damage of us not waiting. Harlow. Those poor girls. A hundred other girls like them. Just thinking of what could have happened to my Harlow if I had not gotten to her that night makes me rage like I never have before.

“Let me send my girl there, like we talked. Stick to the story. Harlow will talk to the girls, get some info on where they take them, where they get them from. I take Kicks his dues, with some interest,” I suggest once the table calms down.

“We follow,” Rock says with a slam of his fist, “a few of us. He needs to know you come as a Sinner with that cash. Not just her old man. We let him know we see the stains they are leaving in Haven. They cannot think we do not see the blood they spill.”

“Hawk, Crank, Rock, you go after her tonight. Try not to let it escalate before Harlow gets some answers from the girls. We need to find out where they stash the women. Lean, have Mutt take those two girls to one of his safe houses tonight. Just in case Mayhem’s men know they came to us. Put prospects with them. Get a doc over there too, give them whatever they need,” Reaper doles out commands like the Prez he is.

We go over some more details before Church is dismissed.
