“Hey, cookie, gimme some more of yer artillery!” Bobby Segee shoveled pork ‘n beans and cornbread into his face until he thought he could eat no more. For a boy who just yesterday had led a shiftless life of nothing but petty theft and starvation, life was pretty goddamn good.

Bobby Segee lay under the stars. He’d earned two dollars, a meal, and a place to sleep. The morning breakfast of hotcakes and bacon was even more enticing. He pulled up the blanket, now his feet were cold. He couldn’t get comfortable. A barking dog kept him awake.

“Flammable, huh?” Bobby sat up; the matches were still in his pocket. He felt a sanguine rush of heartless vengeance. He’d thought of his plan, a perfectly hellish, horrific plan.
