Dear Reader,

It’s been a number of years since I’ve spent a week in Barcelona, but the memories live on, so it was inevitable that I’d plunder the experience for a book setting sooner or later. Obviously, the romantic journey of my secret prince, Raffiel Munoz, and my reluctant aristocratic heroine, Dulcie (Lady Davenport-Brown), takes precedence over the setting, but I hope that I’ve provided a flavor of the city and some of its landmarks along the way.

In these COVID-raddled times, there can’t be many of us who haven’t experienced the loss of normal with the added prospect of an altered future, so, whilst Raffiel’s journey is one into active royal life, I think his basic dilemma is highly relatable, and as a young woman trying to find her own normal, a place to fit and a “right” way to be, again, I feel Dulcie represents so many of us.

I hope you love Raffiel and Dulcie’s story as much as I loved writing it. And please—if you get the chance—grab your camera and go to Barcelona. You won’t regret it!
