Now, as you can see in the above screen shot it has many other important columns which keep track of user logging activities. If you look closely, it stores the password in cryptic format. WebSecurity stores the password in hashed format which is good for user security. Since we have seen that how and where the user data is getting stored, let's return to our Account Controller and see the next call where in its making the call to “Login” in the Register Post action. However, you may see the same call in Login method, when user clicks on the Login button.

It's simply taking your username and password and passing the same to WebSecurity for validation. So, here if the Model State is valid and we get authenticated by the WebSecurity, then in that case we get redirected to the Return URL. So, here “WebSecurity.Login” takes these two input and validate the same with the record stored in the database, and if they match, it will issue a cookie to the browser we discussed earlier. Now, in order to explain the same in detail, let's open chrome debugger tool and open the network tab as shown below.
