Sheldon could tell something was wrong with Blake. Heâd been quiet during the meeting with the queen, and even more so now that the meeting was over. Sheldon wanted to talk to him, but he didnât know if Blake would want that. He also didnât want to do it with an audience, which was hard, since he had no idea where to go inside the palace. He was pretty sure that if he asked Orran to give him and Blake space, Orran would leave, but that didnât sit right with him.
They were back in Orran and Blakeâs rooms, and the two of them belonged there. Neither of them should be asked to leave. Sheldon was the guest, and he had to find another way to make this work.
It wasnât going to be easy, with Blake avoiding looking at him.
âWhatâs going on?â he asked softly.
He hadnât noticed yesterday when heâd arrived, but in the main room, there wasnât just a nest. There was also an area with wide cushions, which he supposed were dragonsâ couches. That was where he and Blake were sitting, but it was getting uncomfortable with Blake looking everywhere but at Sheldon.
Blake shrugged, still looking away. Sheldon huffed. Blake was younger than he was, but he was still an adult. If he had a problem with Sheldon, he should tell Sheldon about it.
âCome on. I know something is up, and I wonât leave you alone until you tell me. I thought youâd be happy to have me with you for a few days, but if thatâs not the case, I can leave right away.â
Blake snapped his head toward Sheldon. âYou want to leave right now?â
âI donât. But if youâre not going to talk to me, I donât see why I should stay.â
Blake sighed and rubbed his face. âFine. We can talk. Not here, though.â
âYou donât want Orran to hear us?â
âI donât want him to hear how stupid Iâm being.â
That didnât bode well, but what was Sheldon supposed to do? He wanted to find out what was up with his brother, and that would only happen if he did whatever Blake was asking. If Blake wanted to talk somewhere else, that was what they would do.
âI donât know the palace,â Sheldon pointed out.
âLuckily, I do. I know the perfect spot.â
âAs long as itâs not too far away. Iâm not sure Iâll be able to walk much.â
Blake grimaced. âWe can just stay here if itâs better for you.â
âIâm fine. Letâs go.â
So off they went. Sheldon was more than happy to leave Orran and Blakeâs rooms. He loved them for allowing him to stay with them, but he also wanted to see more of the palace. He didnât know how long he would be able to stay, and the place was huge. He wanted to explore at least a bit before going home.
If he ever actually went home.
He hadnât made his decision yet. He wanted to stay, but he also wanted to go. His brother was here, but everything else he knew was back in the city.
