Sheldon could tell something was wrong with Blake. He’d been quiet during the meeting with the queen, and even more so now that the meeting was over. Sheldon wanted to talk to him, but he didn’t know if Blake would want that. He also didn’t want to do it with an audience, which was hard, since he had no idea where to go inside the palace. He was pretty sure that if he asked Orran to give him and Blake space, Orran would leave, but that didn’t sit right with him.

They were back in Orran and Blake’s rooms, and the two of them belonged there. Neither of them should be asked to leave. Sheldon was the guest, and he had to find another way to make this work.

It wasn’t going to be easy, with Blake avoiding looking at him.

“What’s going on?” he asked softly.

He hadn’t noticed yesterday when he’d arrived, but in the main room, there wasn’t just a nest. There was also an area with wide cushions, which he supposed were dragons’ couches. That was where he and Blake were sitting, but it was getting uncomfortable with Blake looking everywhere but at Sheldon.

Blake shrugged, still looking away. Sheldon huffed. Blake was younger than he was, but he was still an adult. If he had a problem with Sheldon, he should tell Sheldon about it.

“Come on. I know something is up, and I won’t leave you alone until you tell me. I thought you’d be happy to have me with you for a few days, but if that’s not the case, I can leave right away.”

Blake snapped his head toward Sheldon. “You want to leave right now?”

“I don’t. But if you’re not going to talk to me, I don’t see why I should stay.”

Blake sighed and rubbed his face. “Fine. We can talk. Not here, though.”

“You don’t want Orran to hear us?”

“I don’t want him to hear how stupid I’m being.”

That didn’t bode well, but what was Sheldon supposed to do? He wanted to find out what was up with his brother, and that would only happen if he did whatever Blake was asking. If Blake wanted to talk somewhere else, that was what they would do.

“I don’t know the palace,” Sheldon pointed out.

“Luckily, I do. I know the perfect spot.”

“As long as it’s not too far away. I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk much.”

Blake grimaced. “We can just stay here if it’s better for you.”

“I’m fine. Let’s go.”

So off they went. Sheldon was more than happy to leave Orran and Blake’s rooms. He loved them for allowing him to stay with them, but he also wanted to see more of the palace. He didn’t know how long he would be able to stay, and the place was huge. He wanted to explore at least a bit before going home.

If he ever actually went home.

He hadn’t made his decision yet. He wanted to stay, but he also wanted to go. His brother was here, but everything else he knew was back in the city.
