Sometimes an individual will make it their mission to share their passion for their culture with their team. Doug Wang tries to build his view of Chinese culture into his own design principles, making them visible for his team and Wei Ding goes out of her way to share Chinese history and culture with their colleagues. She lives and works in the United States and realizes that many of the people in her company had never learned much about China’s history. She does internal presentations for them, and says that she “feels privileged to be able to help bring the US and China perspectives together. It’s a little outside my daily responsibilities, but I have a passion for it.” She feels that a better understanding would help people in her company understand, for example, why the Chinese government reacts to things in a certain way.
