Also in the 1800s, new technologies were appearing in the United States. Trains became important for sending people and supplies across the country. The country was connected like never before, but not everyone was affected positively by these changes.

As years went on, Native American groups were pushed further aside. In 1830, the United States passed the Indian Removal Act. This meant all Native Americans east of the Mississippi could be forced to move their communities far from white settlers.
