Will was gutted. The emotional turmoil churning in his stomach left him raw and open. Like a seeping wound that wasn’t healing properly. Except his wound was internal and of his own making. He’d gone through great pains to make sure his features remained placid and unaffected when he woke up the next morning in Robert’s bed.

They’d taken the dogs for a quick walk through the upstairs garden then, after a quick breakfast, Robert had helped Will loaded his car so he could go home post-haste. He blew out a breath, waiting for the moment Robert would drop some bombshell on him about feelings and entanglements. He’d deserve it too. It’d been a little over six months since Tristan walked out of his life without a backward glance. He didn’t need to be cozying up to the FBI agent who was trying to find a painting stolen from his museum. It would end up messy—not that telling said FBI agent he loved him, would end any less disastrous.

Will drop the façade once he turned the corner, leaving behind the club.

He was such a fucking idiot.

What had he been thinking?

He wasn’t. He’d told Robert, moments after experiencing the most euphoric orgasm of his life that he loved him. Several times he opened his mouth to add some caustic retort about loving the orgasm not the man, but he couldn’t push the words past his lips. That’s what happens when you think with your little head and not your big one.

Deep down, emotionally, Will could honestly say he'd been in lust with Robert. The word vomit from last night had been about the passion between them and the mind-altering orgasms. No one had ever gotten him off like Robert had and therein lay the problem. He didn't love Robert. He loved the fact Robert knew what he was doing.

It was too early to make such declarations anyway.

Although, experience told him, feelings of love could happen quickly. His parents were a prime example of such love. His parents met and married within three months. Their love was still strong and true thirty-plus years later. The love his parents shared, was something Will yearned for all his life and he swore he wouldn’t settle for anything less—Tristan notwithstanding.

Poor Robert, how unbearable the whole situation must have been for him. At least he didn’t bring up Will’s faux pas, even though it ate away at Will. Most likely the other man couldn’t wait to get Will out of his house and life. He surely hadn’t protested when Will said he had to go home to check on his place and schedule the crew to come back out to open his house back up.

All because I had to open my big freaking mouth. I never learn.

Of course, Will being Will, stressed about it the entire drive home. He blinked when he pulled into his parking spot. He didn’t even remember the drive home. Shit! Snap out of it. You could have killed yourself.

Will groaned as he opened his door then got out.
