After recess, I did some research on the NASA website. I probably should have done this first. Itâs hard to be a good scientist when youâre so excited!
It takes six to eight months to get to Mars, I thought. Once Galaxy gets there, he will probably have to help with experiments and stuff. Then it will be another six to eight months to get back home. Galaxy could be gone for a year and half or more. So if he left now, he would come home when Iâm in fourth grade. That would be a long time!
I wasnât sure I liked this idea so much.
And then I read this: Laika was the first dog in orbit, but she never returned alive. I looked at Galaxy.
He whimpered. He was so smart. He knew something was wrong.
