Hellen was still shivering when we arrived at out destination. Tracking Abigaleâs magiks was the easiest way to know which direction to go. I opened the layer of darkness separating us form the earth. A series of surprised sounds and a gunshot rang out.
âAgain mate?!â
I asked in an irritable tone as the humans watched me crawl out of the dark portal. Several of the agents seemed ready to piss themselves. Abigale stood with her arms crossed and a stern expression set.
âJust count yerself lucky I didnât encourage them to shoot more. Mainly because I didnât wish for them to hit my sister-in-law.â
Abigale said, and Talia climbed into view.
âThatâs always a good sign, when your wifeâs sister wonât shoot you.â
Talia said in an earnest tone. Unfortunately for her, the royals shooting or backstabbing one another was seemingly genetic. Such unfortunate events occurred far too commonly in the darken fae kingdom.
Abigale got on brilliantly with Talia, despite their differences. Also, it might be a bit hard for Abigale to forget being alert in Alexiaâs body when Talia and Lexi became mates.
âThe snowâs still coming down full force.â
Gin commented, as he moved over to study my figure. I smiled as I looked around the disheveled offices. It looked like the place had seen better days, with blood stains and loose weapons all around the rooms visible.
âItâs good to see ye well, my friend.â
I said to Gin, and he frowned at me and looked into my eyes.
âSomethingâs different about you, besides the color of your eyes.â
He observed aloud, and I grinned a sharp-toothed smile at Gin.
âMainly just the eyes.â
I said in a casual tone, and Gin frowned as if to say he didnât buy my shite. I liked Gin, but I didnât feel the need to explain every detail of my powers and my personal function to him. After all, Gin was a good soldier, he reported everything to his superiors. As much as I liked Gin, I didnât trust his superiors. They already threatened to shoot me with weapons supplied to them by my father. That slight didnât sit well with me.
âThe snow will slow and eventually stop in a few days.â
Talia explained to Gin, and he regarded her warmly, but looked to me for confirmations. I gave him a nod and said, âItâs all true mate, just get out the salts and what not fer the time being. I understand you lot even have automobiles meant to push the snow off the road, keen those.â
I commented, and Gin gave me a queer look, as if just remembering my barely functional knowledge of the modern world. He had some obvious issues regarding my youthful vigor, and my old-arse manner of speech in combination. To his mind, I should be an old maid if I am speaking like I was present before West was won. (Though I particularly loathe that saying, given the mass Native-American deaths.)
âGood ta see ye managed to navigate that death unharmed.â
Edenshire said, as he ambled up to us, while several humans gawked at him.
