Delaney was quite in awe of Bridget Mueez. It was no wonder her father had been a leader in the armed forces. Their minds just worked in different ways. Bridget could see the bigger picture and see several moves ahead of even Delaney and Kale. Bridget helped lay out the military aspect of the fake case while Piper and her cousin Sophie had been called on to come up with a new weapon that they supposedly found linked back to Bermalia. King Draven and Queen Addison had approved the plot and were on board. Once a Keenestonite, always a Keenestonite, even if you’re now queen of another country.

Greer sent the information to the president who had his chief of staff, Humphrey, call the director and eventually the information got to Nala along with the order that she and Delaney’s team were ordered to go to Keeneston to work on this case with Delaney and the team already there.

It had taken less than thirty minutes for Nala to call Delaney. “This is what you’re working on? A new DNA nanotech bomb?”

“Yes,” Delaney told her, feeling slightly bad for lying. “I’ve requested additional help. I take it my request was approved?”

“We’re leaving in the morning and will be there by lunch.”

“Great. See you then.”

Delaney hung up and Bridget smiled. “Now that that is all settled, we have a baby shower to plan.”

She worked in the mammography clinic there. Since her father was traveling a lot or at the race track most weekends, they had all grown up doing their own things. They loved each other, they called every week, but they weren’t the weekly dinner, know everything about each other, kind of close.

“I’m so glad you could come with us today,” Bridget smiled, but suddenly Delaney was on edge. Bridget was being nice, but something was off.

“I’m happy to. Aniyah has been very kind and welcoming to me. What can I do to help?” Delaney asked, noticing they were not driving into town, but out of it.

“Well, the baby shower is the day after tomorrow. We’re doing a Sunday brunch for it and just have to go over the finishing details. But first—”

Bridget turned into a drive that looked as if it were another farm, except for the sign that read Keeneston Military and Law Enforcement Training Center in large letters and then under it in smaller block letters read Privately owned and operated.

“What are we doing here? Picking someone up?” Delaney asked, trying to hide the suspicion from her voice.

“Yes, Abby is here today. Ahmed and the Davies brothers started
