MARSHALL RANCH SOLD FOR $10,000

Local rancher Joseph Sparks is the new owner of the Marshall Ranch, located ten miles west of town, off Boynton Pass Road. The property had been tied up in the courts ever since the death of Caleb Marshall last spring. It sold for $10,000, the amount of unpaid property taxes.

The Yavapai County Sheriff Department has had its hands full keeping looters off the ranch. Marshall, a retired miner, was rumored to have buried his savings somewhere on the land. The new owner, Joseph Sparks, says he plans to graze cattle, not hunt for treasure.
