This is a fictitious story. Parts of it are based on real events that in some cases have been adapted to fit the story.

The racial biology mentioned in this book is a real part of Sweden’s history. The character Harald Lundgren is partially based on Herman Lundborg, the director for the State Institute for Racial Biology in Uppsala in the early 1900s. According to racial biologists, humans were made up of different “races” who were deemed to be of different worth. They wanted to prevent the “Swedish race” from mixing with races they saw as inferior. The Sámi people were seen as belonging to a lower-standing race.

Lundborg’s research has been criticized for not having produced results of any significance.
