In The Spot Light

Today has been an amazing day starting with waking up with Parker cuddled up beside me in my bed. Lying there, my eyes closed, I hear her smiling, the sound her lips make as they slide over her beautiful white teeth. I’m truly blessed. I never thought I would find someone, but then when I’d stopped looking, she landed in my proverbial lap. I’m feeling hopeful and alive now that she’s in my life. Something that I’ve never felt before but could only dream of. I love her laugh, her smell; hell, I just love being around her.

I can tell she is nervous about meeting my parents by the way she fidgets, but she has nothing to worry about. I know they will love her, that’s just the way they are. It will be fun to see how Ava and Ella will react to her. I haven’t told Parker that I’ve already talked to my mother about her. My mom is a hopeful romantic and believes things happen for a reason. When I told her about how Parker and I met, she knew it was fate.

Holding her hand as we walk into the coffee shop, we’re barely through the door when suddenly we’re body slammed by my sisters, both talking a mile a minute, quieting only for a second to kiss them. I glance at my mom and dad, they roll their eyes as they sit there laughing at me. Parker has a huge smile on her face as she tries to comprehend the conversation my sisters are having. Tuning the girls out, I lean over kissing her cheek as I try to move us to the table and out of the way of the incoming patrons.

Dad stands as I introduce him to Parker, and then to my mother. Parker takes a seat as I walk to the counter to order our coffee. Nervously glancing over at the table, a couple of times to see how things look. It’s not that I’m nervous, I just want Parker to be comfortable, but by the look on her face, she looks relaxed with a bright smile. I knew my family would like her.

I find myself daydreaming a lot these days; thinking of the last month and how much my life has changed. She really does brighten it. Walking back to the table with our coffees the girls are jabbering on and on. They’re in the middle of telling horrible childhood stories. Parker looks at me and smiles. God, I love her smile. I sit there not paying any attention to what my sisters are saying, deep in my own thoughts and dreams.

My phone vibrates in my pocket; it’s from work. I politely step outside to take the call, only to return just in time to leave to the signing.

Taking Parker’s hand, we begin to walk to the book store, I know we’re probably going to get bombarded with media, and I don’t want her to get lost in the crowd, so I grip her hand tighter.
