The facilitator proposed looking together for ways of moving forward and action strategies.

Facilitator:

– On the basis of your own resources and experience, and to answer the question asked at the outset, what steps seem important to you to be taken in a context such as that evoked by Barbara? What ways forward, what action would you advocate or could you imagine?

Proposals were offered by several participants:

– Check whether every possible kind of effort has been made.

– At least maintain contact with the colleague.

– Ascertain the underlying causes of the refusal.

– Bear in mind that in some cases people are unwilling to attend training because they have a low level of education and are afraid.

– Offer empathy in relation to the person’s experience while, at the same time, drawing attention to the duties and obligations attaching to work to be performed and services provided.

– Take a person seriously and demonstrate appreciation of their skills.

– Prepare for Lise’s replacement by drawing up a job description that stipulates the requirement for good computer skills.
