Many people who wore wigs were not bald, so when they were fitted for a wig their heads had to be shaved so the wig would fit snugly. But, after wearing these snug wigs they would begin to lose their hair.

Coopers were very important in colonial times. They made wooden barrels that could hold liquids without leaking. Barrels were also used to store corn, cornmeal, meat, and sugar. Coopers made barrels in different sizes and made buckets too.

Colonists bartered for what they needed. Bartering is another word for trading, without using money. Gold and silver coins were hard to get so trading was more common. Colonists also used wampum as a form of money.

Later each colony printed its own paper money, but colonists still preferred coins instead of paper.
