Barbecue Tuna Steaks
Lots of folks try to tell you that tuna tastes like steak. If what you really want is a steak, turn to this page. Tuna doesn’t taste like steak, but on the grill a big old hunk of it sure does act like red meat—and it’s for that reason that I like to use my rub and minimal other seasonings to make it wake up and scream. Cooked like this, tuna can be (nearly) as great as any steak. You can even serve it up with mashed potatoes if you want to.
Serves 2
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1½ teaspoons olive oil
1 tablespoon Only Other Sauce
Two 6-ounce tuna steaks
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Only Rub
