He walked behind her, held her hands behind her back as they moved to the bedroom.
When they crossed the threshold, he eyed the pile of boxes on his dresser, the ones that had been delivered earlier. He had almost forgotten them sitting by the coat closet near the entry landing as he prepared for the impromptu dinner party. That would have made for some interesting conversation. So whatâs in the boxes? Becca would have asked.
Oh, nothing much, just a bunch of BDSM toys and equipment for Quinnâyour typical same-day delivery itemsâanal plugs, a cane, stuff like that. No more newbie fuzzy handcuffs for us!
He could just picture the looks on their faces.
Many times he had wanted to go to the clubâto bring Quinn a cup of coffee or lunch or, before she began her stint filling in for Octavia, to play with her, to be a part of her life there, to better understand. But each time, he stopped himself.
Although he hardly considered himself famous, people recognized him, especially in Manhattan, and he didnât want to risk it.
What would Charles think? Wandering J. frequents BDSM clubâheadlines and hashtags took on a trajectory of their own. It didnât matter how close to or far from the truth they landed. Being spotted also would bring attention to Quinn. Privacy was important to her, and to Leigh on Quinnâs behalf, and he didnât want to jeopardize that.
In the bedroom, he clicked the thermostat up a couple degrees so she wouldnât get cold and walked her toward the bed.
âClothes off,â he whispered, dragging back the comforter. âWhen youâre done undressing, put your hands behind your back and keep your eyes closed.â
She turned toward him and nodded. âYes, Jonathan.â
Hearing her voice alone got him hard, again. He had been trying to distract himself all evening, tried to ignore the discomfort of wanting her so badly.
Instead of leaving her so he could sort through the boxes for what he wanted, he watched her undress.
When she was nude and standing before him, he brushed his thumb under her eye like he had in the past to catch her tears. She wasnât crying, but thatâs where he was drawn, to the delicate skin there, to the weary eyes that held unspoken emotion. He kissed her, first softly at the corner of her mouth, then less softly full on. His hand around her neck, he let his mouth travel the territory of hers, kissing her full lower lip, tasting her upper one, letting himself get lost.
âBe right back,â he finally told her and went to his dresser. He opened the longest box and found what he was looking for.
Then he went into the bathroom and took two thick towels from the shelf. One more stop at his closet for the overfull messenger bagâit was no longer large enough for their new level of playâand he took the blindfold, restraints, feather, and small leather flogger to the bed, placing everything but the blindfold on the floor beside it, where she couldnât see.
