The servo, the microcontroller, and the robotâs sensors are some of the most integral parts of any robot to be entered into competition. Once team members have a good sense of the basics to these parts, they can then learn how to âbreak the rulesâ and modify them to improve or change the robotâs functionality.
This is a kind of servomotor that hobbyists might use in radio-controlled model cars or other vehicles, as well as in many kinds of simple robots.
MODIFYING THE SERVO
The most common reason to modify the servo is to gain speed control. The normal servo doesnât rotate continuously because of an inbuilt potentiometer (âpotâ) that determines the angle at which the servo is. Working around this problem is one of the main ways of gaining flexibility and stability.
