“WELL? WHAT do you think?” Sherri, the real estate broker, looked at them with raised eyebrows.

“We need to talk it over,” Roger told her with a quick glance back at John. John nodded. It was the fourth apartment they’d seen that day, but Roger was pretty sure this was the one.

“I’ll meet you downstairs.” Sherri smiled knowingly. “No rush.” The door to the apartment closed, the sound echoing throughout the empty space.

“Well?” Roger grinned.

John just laughed and shook his head. “You know me too well.”

“It’s perfect, isn’t it?”

“Yes.”

Roger threaded his arms through John’s and kissed him on the neck. It was hard to miss the shiver that ran through John’s lean body. Roger loved that he could still do that to him. “Want to do it here?”

“Roger.”

“Okay, okay. But when we move in….”

John slipped out of Roger’s arms and walked over to the glass doors that led to the balcony. “Did you know that if you stand on the edge of the balcony and look to your left, you can see the Empire State Building?”

“Better not tell anyone, or they’ll charge even more for this place.” Roger wasn’t worried. He’d be making enough money at his job to pay the rent without John’s help.

“You sure about this?” John asked. “I mean, commuting to Jersey every day?”

“Easier than commuting the other way. Besides, would you rather live in Hoboken?”

“No. Not really.”

“Good. Then I’ll write a check—”

“We’ll write a check,” John said with a shake of his head. “Remember, I’m making money too.”

“Okay. How about I write the check and you pay me back with lots of great sex?” Roger waggled his eyebrows and John hit him on the ass. Roger had no intention of letting John use the tiny stipend he received from Juilliard to help pay for the place, but he figured he’d fight that battle later.

“Shut up. I’m too expensive for you anyhow.” He offered Roger his best pouty face, which of course Roger had to kiss.

“Welcome home, John Fuchs,” he whispered in John’s ear once their lips parted.

John just sighed.
