Chloe

I’m still hot and bothered when I finally get home. It’s as if neither my mind nor body can turn off and I buzz with excitement, throwing my bag down and running to the bathroom.

I stare at myself in the mirror. It’s still me, with the curvy body and curly brown hair, but it’s also not me. The new Chloe is flushed and excited, with a certain knowing in her eyes. And it’s all because of Dr. Northing.

Who is this man? Frankly, I feel myself swooning at the mere thought of my handsome physician and everything tingles once more. To be honest, I still don’t completely understand how vibrational healing works, but it doesn’t matter. He can pump me full of his energy anytime.

I pull out my phone, ready to confess everything to Maggie but just before I hit the call button, my fingers hesitate. What if she’s judgmental? I know that going to Dr. Northing was technically her idea, but then again, it doesn’t seem right to share. What Dr. Northing and I did was intimate and private, and I don’t want to blab it to my best friend just yet because she’d probably say Brett crossed a line.

I toss my phone on my bed. It’s better not to reveal what happened, and I’m not ready to tell Maggie about my orgasm, anyway. I need to process longer before opening up about the therapy.

Meanwhile, my laptop stares at me from my desk. Oh shit! I’m supposed to have that article ready for Victoria and I haven’t even started. Shit, shit, shit, what do I do?

Fortunately, Glenda gave me Brett’s colleague’s contact information before I left the office, and I fumble with my phone before dialing. Here it is. Dr. Karl Desmond.

“Good Vibrations, this is Noreen. How can I help you?”

“Um, hi, is Dr. Desmond available?”

I can hear the professional gloss in her voice.

“No, I’m sorry he’s not. Would you like to leave a message?”

Damn it.

“Yes, I would. My name is Chloe Francis, and I’m a reporter at Women Weekly. I’m doing a article on vibrational therapies, and I’d love to get some quotes from Dr. Desmond if he’s available. If I could leave my number, that would be fantastic.”

Noreen takes my information, and then I hang up. I hope he calls me, otherwise I’m going to have to ask Brett for another referral. But within a few minutes, my phone rings.

“Is Chloe Francis there?” a deep voice rings out. “This is Karl Desmond.”

Oh wow, he sounds sexy.

“Hi Dr. Desmond. I’m a reporter researching an article on alternative healing for the magazine Women Weekly, a women’s circular that has a national readership. I was wondering if I could ask you a few questions about your practice and techniques, as well as the theory behind them?”

“Certainly. Ms. Francis, did you say? Would you like to talk over the phone or in person? I have a lot to say, but I’m good either way.”

I smile.

“Sure, because in person is actually better for me.
