CHAPTER 27

OLIVIA | PULA TO VENICE

The pounding in my head woke me up and I was completely disorientated.

“Ahh, she lives!” Jonah almost cheered as he noticed me waking up.

“My god, you’re so annoying,” I groaned, rubbing my eyes with the back of my palm.

“There’s a fresh bottle of water and some pain killers in the centre console. Tell me I’m annoying now.” He refuted and I didn’t say anything because I was grateful he was looking out for me.

I was completely taken aback by how sweet he was this morning. The image of him cleaning last night’s make-up off my face was going to live in my brain rent free for the rest of my life. I’d met many different versions of Jonah in the months I’d known him, but sweet Jonah was quickly on his way to stealing P1.

After swallowing the tablets with a gulp of water, I put the lid back on the bottle and pulled my feet up onto the chair. “How long do we have left?”

“About twenty minutes. And get your feet off my seats.”

“But I’m comfy.” I shot him my best puppy dog eyes which earned me a sigh. With a triumphant smile plastered over my face, I pulled out my phone and my eyes bulged out of my head at the number of notifications I was met with.

“Jesus, did you shar—” I stopped mid-sentence as my eyes settled on one particular notification.

jonahscott mentioned you in their story.

I clicked onto it and spotted a photo of myself fast asleep in the passenger seat while the caption read ‘road tripping is all a bit too much for Liv.’

“Was that really necessary?” I glared at him.

“You looked cute.” He shrugged nonchalantly, causing that familiar warm feeling to settle in my stomach again and I pushed it away. I couldn’t believe how much this guy was worming himself into my life.

It was just part of the brief, I tried to remind myself. Make him look good, make it look like we were friends, that we could get on and not yell at each other in the paddock.

I didn’t even bother checking the comments on my latest reel. I wasn’t ready for the death threats and claims about me working in F1 to get to the hot guys.

I spotted nine text messages from Dylan, so I clicked into the message app to read them.
