Chapter 8

Elric had just reached the fifth floor in this place and was wandering around when he found Tinker meditating in what Elric guessed was the mage's suite here. Not looking to interrupt him, Elric sat himself next to the entrance way to rest as Tinker meditated. The first thing Elric noticed was two wide bladed short swords Tinker was holding as he meditated. Elric pondered whether or not Tinker had made them since they were not made of metal as most sword blades are and just why was he meditating while holding them?

Elric, not being a strong user of magic, watched as Tinker sat for another two hours meditating. He had only just moved to stretch his back when he heard. “Hello Elric, glad to see you, but I told Anya and Isabel I wouldn’t run off until the Queen's army arrived. I don’t need a babysitter.” Elric chuckled then replied. “I know full well you don’t and that's not why I’m sitting here.” Tinker tilted his head looking at the royal ranger and replied. “Oh, well then how can I help you Elric?” Elric looked Tinker in the eye and said. “Just what did you use to build all this?”

Tinker stretched then replied with a small smile on his face. “Oh, just sand and dirt along with magic. If you look at it with the forest behind it, this castle or fort blends together making it hard to see.”

Tinker acknowledged Elric’s comment by replying. “Yes, it’s surfaces have been covered in a mixture of colors to help it do so. That way once these lands have been revived with the forest. Only those who know where it's located can find it, unless they are flying up high in the sky. But it shouldn’t be an issue since Princess Anya say’s you have griffon allies.” Elric grunts at Anya’s statement from Tinker and as he sees his daggers point has returned he puts his sharpening stone away along with his dagger and says. “Yes we do. Did she also tell you they dislike fighting on the ground?” Tinker nods his head yes and replies. “She did. But I told her I bet if she asked if they would fly border scouting runs and agree to fight if and or when winged enemies attacked, they would probably be happy to help.”

Elric had tilted his head as Tinker said that then smirked at him. As that metal aerie above the castle roof's purpose became clear to him. This human youth continued to amaze him with his forethought. He was
