Monday morning came, and I was feeling a little out of sorts.

I’d had a great weekend away with Skylar for Valentine’s, but now I wasn’t so sure I’d made the right decision in going. Yes, it had achieved the purpose of Sky falling more in love with me—but it also meant I was doubting myself and my plan.

She wasn’t the bitch I thought she was going to be.

She had no clue who her father was, or what he’d done. The hurt he’d caused.

But the train was going full steam ahead, and if I tried to derail it, the O girls would have something to say about it.

Since Olivia’s death, they were even more adamant that Sky deserved all this and more. To them, Olivia had died because of Skylar—maybe even at Skylar’s hands—and nothing me, or the guys, said was going to change that opinion.

Before school started, I placed a note in Skylar’s bag that told her to meet me outside after third period. I’d set up a picnic for lunch as a surprise, and I knew she’d find the note at some point. I could always text her if not.

Everything was all set. The food arranged. The location picked out.

What were my real intentions for the picnic? Not a fucking scooby, honestly. I wanted to spend time with her. That was all I knew.

I was just putting the finishing touches on the blanket and basket when my phone buzzed with a message. My lips turned up into a wide smile when I saw the text was from Skylar.
