17 - Dare

My pretty little American girl's fingers tremble on the door latch as she looks at me, eyes wide, pupils slowly filling, becoming beautiful and big, anticipation mixed with excitement.

"I... I want to show you my bed..." she says, her voice nary a whisper.

I reach out and place my hand atop hers on the door. She lets loose the latch and I take her fingers in between mine. The door closes just as slowly as it opened a few whiles earlier, a definitive click breaking through the thick silence between us.

"Do you now?" I ask her, my voice soft, steady, a breath of a kiss and nothing more. "You won't regret it, will you? I want to come in, Grace. I'd do just about anything in the world to spend the night with you, but..."

Aye, and maybe I'm ruining my chances here. Possibly I'm giving up the moment of a lifetime. Is it worth leaving when I might spend a wild, intimate night filled with love and passion, sweat and desire? If this is it, if this is the only time we'll ever have together for an entire lifetime, then neither of us should waste even a second, but if there's something more, if there could be more, I'd give up anything to have it, even this.

Yeah, I've found myself in a right pickle of a situation, eh? Fuck, I don't even like pickles that much.

Grace Turner looks at me with those lovely wide eyes of hers, never one to turn down a challenge. She's marriage material if I ever saw it, the girl I'll be dreaming of for the rest of my life. Will she wake up at my side after those dreams or will she always be the one who got away?

"I'm not saying anything, Dare Mackenzie," she says, pushing close to me, almost a hug, our bodies touching as she tucks her chin low and presses her cheek to my chest. "I know how you feel and if you don't know how I feel right now then maybe it's best if you don't come in, because--"

Now now, beautiful. We can't have you talking like that...

I take her chin in my hand and pull her up to look in her eyes. I only need a second, so that's all I take. Both our eyes close, both of us knowing what's coming next. I touch my lips to hers, soft at first, but needing more quicker than I ever have before. She clings to me, her room key still clenched in her hand as she grabs my shirt. I wrap my arm around her, squeezing her tight, needing to feel her heat and her body touching me.

Then, wordless, I take her keycard and tap it to the door. Eyes closed, kissing the woman of my dreams, the one I want to love forever, I pull down the latch and push the door open. I hold it with my foot and lifting her up into my arms, grabbing her ass as she wraps her legs around me.
