“ALLIE! ALLIE! You have to wake up!” Tyler frantically calls to me, pulling me from my latest nightmare. Sweat mixes with my tears as I’m drawn back to reality. “I’ve got you. I’ve got you, Allie. You’re safe now.”

He pulls me against his chest and wraps me in his arms. They create a fortress around my body, making me untouchable to the thoughts hunting me. I feel protected. Safe.

My heartbeat begins its descent into a more natural rhythm, and my breathing slows to a more manageable rate. I’m no longer hyperventilating, and I feel a calm spread over my body.

“Please, don’t let him hurt me anymore,” I cry and he squeezes me tighter.

“I won’t, Allie. He won’t hurt you anymore,” he promises as I snuggle into the cocoon of his arms. I’m exhausted from the marathon of emotions, and I feel sleep trying to take me again.

“Please don’t let me go.”

“I’ll never leave you,” he promises as he lays me back down and cuddles into my back. He places his face into the crook of my neck with a gentle kiss. His warm breath soothes away the tension in my shoulders. And with the panic of the nightmare taken away by my guardian angel, I drift off into a peaceful sleep. Wrapped in Tyler. A place I never want to leave.
