Empathy (Understanding, Adaptive, Communicative)

Çakmakli (2010) describes empathy in the context of design research and understanding user needs. Representing the user’s perspective is an example of employing empathy during the design process. In a product, anticipating user needs and offering help right when the user needs it can also convey a sense of empathy. Humor and an open channel for feedback are two ways to help make the user feel that his or her problems are acknowledged and understood.
