Demon

The meeting is at a close with each of us given a task. Orion is going to dig into the online chatter to make sure that Maxim is done with the Donatis. Risk and War are going to the underground network for information, and Guard and Saint are running the day-to-day with Cris as the go-between. The others are working the shop and the parts store and maintaining the construction projects on the go.

All signs point to the end of this fiasco, yet we all have family to protect, so we stay on high alert for the next few days.

Sheriff Cannon connected with Guard earlier this morning and has concluded that we had nothing to do with the death of Andre Gregoriov. Well, duh! I called Domenic earlier this morning. It seems that I made the call just in time. His other line was ringing through, and it was the police, calling to ask their questions. We agreed to keep an eye out for the next few weeks to be safe. I also suggested that he come and visit when this is all said and done. It will give father and daughter some time to reconnect.

War interrupts my thoughts. “Are we done here? I want to check on my girls.”

“We’re done,” Guard says, watching as the brothers file out the door. When the two of us are left alone, he smirks. “It’s over, brother.”

“Yeah, I hope so.”

“It’s over.” He places his hand over his heart. “I know.” Guard has this sixth sense, and I have to say, he’s rarely wrong. But I’ve lived through so much shit that I err on the side of caution.
