It was a miracle I didn’t cause a serious car crash on my way to the mansion. As soon as I read Antonio’s message, I didn’t even waste time to reply. I just headed straight to the elevator to go to the underground garage.

Antonio: I am taking Isabella to Dad's. She is not okay.

His message was brief. He didn’t even tell me to come. Well, he didn’t need to tell me that he very well knew that once I read Bella was not okay, I’d be there. The lack of detail in the message actually made me very anxious and a little bit angry with Antonio, but I tried to get rid of that feeling.

Once I got there, I’d learn what has happened.

Fortunately, there was no traffic, so it took me about twenty minutes to be at my father’s house. I might exceed the speeding limit a little, but honestly, it didn’t matter. It was not like the police could take away my license.

When I barged into the house, the first one to welcome me was Antonio. “You came faster than I expected.”

Oh, really? Sorry bro, I don’t have time for chit-chat. “What happened?”

My brother took a deep breath like he was getting ready for the shit-show waiting for him. “She attacked Giovanni.”

“What?” I was both shocked and unsure about what I heard.

“Apparently, he got rid of Aunt Claretta’s things, plants, and all. She barged in while we were in a meeting and tackled him.”

That was horrible. We shouldn’t have pushed Giovanni more than he already was, but still, I couldn’t help but ask with a small smile, “Did she land a good hit.”

Antonio shook his head like he cannot believe me. It was not a sane thing to ask right now, and Antonio was always sane.

When he didn’t answer, I decided not to lose any more time. “Where is she?”

“Upstairs in Mia’s room. She is calmer now.” That was enough for me. I started walking to the stairs, but Antonio made me stop. “Alessio. I kind of eavesdropped them to make sure she was okay.”

His voice was too uncomfortable for Antonio. “What is it?”

He didn’t look at me while answered which is a big red flag when Antonio does this. “Before she barged into the meeting, she was planning to kill herself.”

Until this moment, I really thought I knew what pain was. I did get hurt pretty bad all through my life. At the age of twenty-one, I had too many scars. When I heard Bella was promised to Brando Panaro, it tore my heart and hurt more than all of those scars combined. Honestly, I thought it was the worst of the worst. Apparently, I was wrong because there was nothing compared to what I felt when I thought about Bella killing herself.

I could not live in a world where she didn’t exist, and knowing she did that to herself would only make it worse.

I was already too hateful towards Giovanni and Brando, but that was the last straw.
