Quantitative data
The data that we say is quantitative must have numeric measurements. Ideally, such data must be objective. By objective, I mean that the data must be the same regardless of who measures it. For instance, in qualitative data, different people can observe different colors for the same dolphin if one is a color blind.
However, in quantitative data, it must be the same. For instance, measurements such as length, mass, temperature, time, concentration and frequency will always be objective. Going back to our earlier example of research on dolphin, the following are examples of quantitative data that you can collect:
There are thirteen dolphins in the pod.
Dolphins eat an equivalent of 10-12% of their body mass each day.
The sonar frequency that dolphins use is approximately 100 kHz.
