Tori

I wait for Dmitry to leave the room before opening my eyes. The audacity of him to have me hidden in his torture chamber while he wipes the tears of his rich witch.

I throw the sheets back and grab his discarded shirt, pulling it on quickly. Then I ease the door open and sneak along the passage and up the stairs.

I pause just out of sight, hearing Dmitry. “Why don’t you go upstairs and soak in the bath? I’ve just got some business to catch up on.”

“Can’t you join me?” she asks, her voice irritating and whiney.

“Soon. Grab a bottle of wine from the cellar,” he tells her, and I hear the sound of them kissing. I ball my fists in anger.

“I was thinking, maybe we could get away to one of your cabins for a few days, maybe this weekend?”

“Maybe,” he replies. “I’ll see what I have in the diary.”

“Am I forgiven for earlier?” she asks.

“No, Vivian, but we’ll sort that out later. Go and take a bath.”

I hear her heels clicking on the floor. She’s walking away, but there’s no way I’ll get out of here without him seeing me, so I rush back into his chamber of pleasure. He re-joins me a second later, taking in my shirt-clad body. “You’re awake,” he remarks.

I give a nod. “I’m going home.”

“The shirt looks good,” he comments, smirking.

“Well, you cut up my clothes, so I have nothing to wear.”

“I’ll drive you home.”

“I’d rather walk. In fact, I’d rather walk over hot coals than stay here a second longer.” I march towards the door, and his hand darts out, snatching my wrist.

“Do we need to do this every time you’re upset? You can’t walk home in a shirt.”

“I’ve worn less on a night out,” I snap. “Haven’t you got a bottle of wine and a romantic soak in the bath waiting for you?” I stuff my feet into my shoes.

He realises I’ve heard him with her and his expression softens. “I told you, it’s complicated.”

“Then uncomplicate it.”

“If only it was that easy,” he mutters, sliding his hand from my wrist and lacing our fingers. “But you’re making me want to change things,” he adds.

“Take me home,” I order. “Now.”

He gives a slight nod and leads me from the room. Vivian is walking through the hallway, holding a bottle of wine and two glasses. She stops in her tracks when she sees me, arching a brow. “You didn’t say you had company,” she spits.

“Because you didn’t warn me you were coming,” Dmitry snaps.

“Should I have to? We’re practically engaged,” she shouts.

Dmitry fixes her with a glare, and she bites on her lower lip before slowly lowering her eyes. “Take a bath. I’ll be back soon.” She heads up the stairs, and I pull my hand free and march towards the door, a mixture of anger and jealousy coursing through me.

“Tori,” he barks, but I ignore him, flying down the steps and speed walking away. He catches me quickly, wrapping his arms around my waist.
