How many times have you gone to a website and just not been able to find what you’re looking for? One of the problems some site owners suffer from is a type of hoarding, where they’ll just throw everything they can think of onto the home page, in the hope that their visitor will somehow find what they need.

Sometimes that chance will not come around because frankly, your visitor will get bored or frustrated before they get to that nugget of information they were looking for. This only means one thing—the exit crosshairs.

In order to improve your website’s navigability and ease of use, try to organise your pages with categories that your visitor can delve deeper into, rather than overwhelming them with too many choices up front. Don’t get me wrong, choices are good, but give people too many and you’ll probably scare them off. Most people don’t have enough staying power to figure out your site, so make the job easy for them. Get rid of anything that you wouldn’t want to be clicked right off the bat and think in terms of what content will keep your visitor clicking and reading, rather than buzzing off to YouTube to watch more cute kittens.
