Composing

“Looks like someone had an interesting night.”

I’d just walked out of my bedroom to make coffee as Rachel was walking in. My skirt and panties, along with my shoes were scattered over the floor. “Samson stopped in.” I knew my face was flushed as I picked up the clothes.

“Miles and Samson? Some girls have all the luck.” With a soft laugh, Rachel walked into the kitchen and started the coffee brewing.

“I didn’t do Miles.” I felt like I had to explain that, but wasn’t sure why it made me so defensive.

“I wasn’t bitching girlfriend. Maybe a little jealous, but hell you’ve been living a life most people only dream of lately so who could blame me.”

“Trust me it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.” That was the crux of the situation. Trying to find my place in this crazy ass relationship was driving me nuts. I’d been so pissed at Samson but after last night I knew I still wanted something with him.

“So I guess you and Samson had wild makeup sex.” Pouring us both a cup of coffee, Rachel took them over to the island bar and we sat down together.

“He left without waking me up this morning, so who knows.” I had no idea where things were with him and it was driving me nuts. “Then Miles. The way he was with Amber, I think he wants more there, even though he swears he’s not right for her.”

“I’m the last person to be giving sexual advice, Zoey, but maybe you need to stop seeing all of them.” She took a sip of her coffee, avoiding my eyes. “Obviously it’s screwing with your mind and I don’t want to see you getting hurt.”

Was she right? Trying to be everything to four men wasn’t something I had been prepared for. I mean sure. The sex had been great, but that was never going to be enough for me. In the back of my head, all I really wanted these days was a normal relationship and there was nothing normal about sleeping with four men.

“If you had to choose one, who would you stay with?” Finally she looked at me and I could tell she wasn’t comfortable bringing up the subject.

“Leon and Leif have their own thing going, so ruling them out wouldn’t be a big decision.” I could have argued with her but the truth was I needed to make a decision. Then there was always the ‘what if’ they weren’t willing to change their original idea for one big happy love fest. “As much as I love Miles, and I do love him, I think he needs something different. He says he wants a partner, but the truth is I could bend him to my will and make him miserable in the process.”

When it finally struck me that I was just as dominant as Samson, the laughter struck, and I couldn’t contain it. He was my perfect partner. Granted he wanted to control me, but he couldn’t, but he wouldn’t let me control him either.
