Back in the tree, the Sprouties parted ways. Coco knew what each would be doing. Lulu would go outside to work on her spins and twirls. Nova would visit the patients in the hospital burrow. And Zali would no doubt be in the craft branch, making something fabulous.

As for Coco, she raced down to the test kitchen. She wanted to make a snack, then work on ideas for their cake.

It has to be something that no one has done before, she decided. Something with all the flavors of the forest in it.

Ideas swirled around Coco’s head as she nibbled on crackers and pink-swirl dip. But it wasn’t until much later, when the Sprouties were tucked into their cozy beds, that Coco landed upon the perfect idea.

She sat bolt upright. “Sprouties!” she whispered. “Want to hear my cake idea?”

But the room was completely silent. Except, of course, for the sound of Zali’s snores.
