COOPERSTOWN BREWING COMPANY, 1995–PRESENT

The Cooperstown Brewing Company was formed in 1995 in the village of Milford by Stan and Brian Hall. It is located on 110 River Street in a one-story building that used to be a milk-processing plant built in the 1940s. They began brewing in the spring of 1995. The Halls installed a twenty-barrel brewing system designed by English micro-brewing pioneer Peter Austin. A brick-lined brew kettle and open fermenters were installed. In late 1995, a 120-bottle-per-minute bottling line was installed. The bottling line formerly belonged to the Sam Adams brewery in Boston. The brewery produces ales, porters and stouts. It uses English barley malts, West Coast hops and English Ringwood yeast.
