Pernicious Anemia

Pernicious anemia is a disorder when the body is unable to absorb vitamin B12 that is needed to produce RBCs, resulting in a decreased RBC count. Deficiency of vitamin B12 inhibits the ability of RBCs to divide normally. As a result, RBCs become large and have difficulty in exiting bone marrow.
