Chapter 8

Lynn carefully padded out of the shower, maintaining a continuous grip on the counter top to keep from falling. Lingering in the warm water had caused the dizziness to increase. The cramping in her stomach also increased. She looked up, staring at her reflection in the mirror as she touched her stomach with one hand. Doctor Rollins told her some cramping and light bleeding was perfectly normal. Still, it terrified her since she also knew it could be signs the implantation didn’t work. After slipping on her robe, she walked into the bedroom, searching for clean clothes to wear. Since she still had to endure bed rest, she opted for a comfortable pair of shorts and a loose fitting tank top.

Once she was dressed, she grabbed her cell phone and ambled towards the living room. She snagged a bottle of water before dropping onto the sofa and stretching out both legs in front of her. At least a change of scenery was possible. Staying in the bedroom all day was beginning to drive her crazy. She flipped on the big screen TV; surfing through the channels until she came across a movie that appeared somewhat interesting. With a glance at the clock, she wondered how much longer before Alexis and Calista would arrive home. While she waited, she decided to give her sister a call. Katie answered on the second ring.

“Hello, hello,” Katie chirped from the other end. “How are things in New York, sis?”

“They’ll be better when I’m released from bed rest. The bed rest wouldn’t be so bad if I was allowed to have orgasms.”

“God, you’re such a sex addict!” Katie laughed as she talked to Shania in the background, using cutesy words.

Lynn grumbled. “You sound like Alexis. She told me the same thing.”

“That’s because you are one. I can’t wait to see you at the benefit concert. Aimee and I have something we want to talk to you about.”

“Is it a good something or a bad something? Please tell me it’s good.”

“Well,” Katie’s chipper voice escalated. “I think it’s good. You’ll have to wait and see. How’s Cali girl?”

“Inquisitive as ever,” Lynn sighed, settling against the sofa cushions as she closed her eyes. “She keeps asking for a puppy. Alexis and I have talked about it but she’s never given me a straight answer.”

“Aimee thinks we should get one for Shania too. I’m not too keen on the idea but…Who knows? Aimee thinks Chihuahua’s are cute. I’d rather have a Golden Retriever.”

“Oh, you’ll give in to her Chihuahua idea. Aimee has you wrapped around her finger like a puppet on a string, my dear sister.”

“Are you saying I’m whipped?”

“Honey, you’ve been whipped since the two of you hooked up. Looks like it’s time for me to go.” Lynn smiled when the door opened a crack and Alexis stepped inside, juggling a box of pizza with a bag on top while holding Calista’s hand. “My beautiful wife and our daughter just arrived with dinner. I love you and I miss you.
