Chapter 13 Gun Gone
Tony Visconti had been born and raised in Worcester. He was a fast rising soldier in the ranks of the local La Cosa Nostra and he certainly was ambitious. When the bossâs right hand man had given him the new assignment, even if it was guarding some important copâs backside, he decided to go the second mile. Most Days he watched the home of police chief Bender. To be sure he would go there in different cars and use different disguises; however he kept a very bored eye open for hour after fruitless hour, continuously observing the residence from a safe distance. The home was located in an elegant neighborhood off Lincoln Street. It was an older home although it was spacious and well kept. A tree lined driveway led to a more modern garage. The well kept, front yard had a statue of Mother Mary circled by a variety of flowers. Tony approved of that being a staunch Catholic himself. At least the cop was a true believer.
Tony performed his confessing anonymously at a cathedral down in Providence. After all if you had to hit somebody that was part of the business. Thereâs absolutely no reason to lose oneâs soul over some piece of shit that the boss wanted put out of commission. However, he had to make sure that he was unrecognized. Discretion was not just desirable, it was a necessity in this business. Besides Mister Genovezzi wasnât blood thirsty. Tony had only needed to waste two low life thugs in over eight years for the boss. Most of the time he was conducting what passed for the local extortion business and of course setting up graft contracts with the unspoken approval of the current mayor. All in all Tony figured he had it pretty good, considering the profession he had chosen.
As the tedious hours went by, he mused on some of the girl friends he had enjoyed over the years and he always had a contest in his mind to determine who the top three were. Actually heâd eventually selected Alice Mizzo for his wife. Boy was she a hot piece! Even after five years of marriage and two children later that cunt could still fuck like a two bit whore. She certainly performed her wifely duties to a tee and then some. However, a red blooded man needed some variety, regardless of a wifeâs voluptuous techniques.
Heâd also amassed a six figure bank account and owned a six bedroom home free of mortgage. His car was paid for and he still had a dripping piece on the side over in Sutton by the name of Cathy. All and all he had a good thing going and he certainly didnât want to let the boss down. No sir. There were far worse things than staking out a house for el patrone. He didnât know why he had to stake out the chiefâs home but orders were orders. As long as the money rolled in, heâd piss in coke bottles if he had to.
