The next morning, as I walk into the building, I come across Louisa and she just nods in greeting— A far cry from our usual embraces. Even as we have the general meetings, a fragile peace blankets our talks as if we are all walking on cracked glass.

The tension is suffocating. I hate it.

As the day wears on, I keep to my office, delegating any issue that would require me to step out and possibly cross paths with her. Logan, the perceptive hound, isn't fooled. He barges into my office with a look of concern and annoyance, etched across his face.

"Okay, what's going on?" he demands.

"What?"

"You've been distant, and Louisa seems... different too. I take it that the conversation didn't go well."

"You can say that."

"Spill," he commands as he takes a seat.

I take a deep breath, the words spilling forth.

"You have seen that guy hanging around Lou, right?" I ask.

"Yeah, she said he was her colleague."

"He is also her ex, and he is here to assist her with the team project. Which means, he is most likely going to be here for a while. It's stirring up emotions, and I'm not sure how to handle it."

Logan's eyes meet mine, his expression a blend of earnest concern and unwavering support.

"Damn Maxwell, that's rough."

"Yeah, tell me about it," I say as I slump on the chair.

"I feel you but man, you can't let this fester. You have to decide what Louisa means to you. You're on the brink of losing her," he implores.

"I know that. I just, I don't know. I don't get why I'm hesitating. It is not like me," I rant.

"No, it is not. So you better figure out what is going on in that heart of yours and fast." He says as he gets up from the chair. "Also, try and get your shit together. Remember, we have a crucial game tomorrow. You need to be focused. The team is counting on you."

I watch him walk out as I go through his words. Since I'm not able to figure out my heart, I might as well put my time into a more productive avenue. The game for tomorrow is important for us. If we win this, we get qualified for the championship. I seriously need a win at something right about now.
