CHAPTER 23

ROLLING HILLS

Arizona Territory

Bouncing back off the table in her father's claims office, hand in hand, Leah led Blaze through the door at the back of the claims office, and he found they had entered a stairwell up to the second floor. As he marched up the steps, Blaze reflected on just how he was about to be blessed with the good fortune of another romp between a woman's legs so soon after bedding Melissa Moncrief in the old wagon.

Despite being a woman in her mid-twenties, Leah St. Juliana was a woman who lived firmly under her father's thumb. The trouble for her had started upon their move to town. Without the slightest hint of embarrassment, Leah had revealed that no longer isolated, she had immediately cottoned to all the menfolk that were to be had in the town, and they were not shy about their intentions. With a healthy interest in the opposite sex and no hang-ups on waiting until marriage, Leah did nothing to discourage the advances of many a partner.

Defiantly, she had called his bluff only to find out he wasn't bluffing when she came home from the Cracker-Barrel Kingdom with a load of groceries only to find her bags packed and outside the door to her room.

With no marketable skills, Leah had contritely folded to his demands and agreed to walk the straight and narrow, and she had. She had turned away her not-so-gentlemen callers when they had brazenly come courting until one by one, her suitors stopped coming. With the well dry, they had moved onto greener pastures.

With her arms crossed and a seductive look on her face, Leah had admitted seeing the handsome stranger riding away from the train station had gotten her juices flowing. Having walked the straight and narrow for so long now without the feel of a man inside her, she thought she was going to explode. But, with her father safely heading in the opposite direction on his train, there was no chance of discovery, so when she had overheard St. Juliana rebuffing Blaze, she knew the opportunity was too good to let slip by, and the fact that he needed her help made the perfect trade.

When she had finished making her proposition, Blaze could hear what Jim would be saying right at that moment, Kit, you
