PHASE ONE: In broad strokes, the creation process goes like this: on a blank canvas (Glyphs tab, the “+” button), pick the brush you want to compose with. In the drawing window’s center, tap or trace your version of whichever letter is highlighted in the top row; select the next target letter and repeat.

PHASE TWO: You can edit your work at any point by tapping the tab bar’s four-headed arrow (one-finger tap for the resize or rotate box) or the hand icon (to tweak individual strokes). Hit the menu bar’s Compose tab to test draw some letters. When you’re ready to publish, head back to Glyphs and in the Share menu, choose “Build Font…” and follow the instructions from there.

FONT CHECK: Here’s a prepublication chance to see what your creation looks like. Use the spacing slider to tighten or loosen kerning (space between letters). Keep an eye out for odd alignments (the “i” here needs a leftward nudge) or descenders (“g”, “y”) whose tails get clipped. Head back to the Glyphs tab to make those adjustments.
