By default, the width of the fortress is actually set to the width of the inner castle (content) rather than from the outer edge of the walls (border). You can change this with the CSS box-sizing property. Setting it to border-box will measure it from one border edge to another. You can select all elements by using the * selector.

* { box-sizing: border-box; }

An Element’s Pre-Apocalyptic Girth

Block-level elements will expand to fill their parents' width unless explicitly set by your CSS. Height will be determined by the amount of info in the element and how far down that content pushes the element’s lower boundary.

Widths and heights can be set in px, em, %, vh, vw, and more. You can also set max-width and max-height to prevent a box from growing wider or taller than you want it to. In the same way, you can prevent it from being too small by setting a min-width and/or a min-height.
