Caleb smoothed his cashmere sweater over his stomach and then lowered himself into one of the dining room chairs. Woodhouse sat across the table from him and Lamont was seated to his right, a respectable distance away. Far enough away that they’d have to try to touch one another. Caleb thought about trying, but he caressed the left sleeve of his sweater down his arm instead.

“Alright, here’s the plan,” Woodhouse said dramatically, his hands on the table, fingers laced together. “We need to track down Aaron Setter. We know from Chanté’s intel–”

“Is someone going to tell me exactly who Chanté is?” Lamont asked.

Woodhouse looked at Caleb.

Caleb stared back at Woodhouse.

Woodhouse chuckled and turned to Lamont. “Hacker. Part-time exotic dancer. Full-time flirt. A little chatty. Might steal your watch. His… friend?”

Caleb raised one eyebrow at Woodhouse, refusing to turn to Lamont. He couldn’t turn to him when the scent of his cologne was filling his nostrils. It was too much. “Best friend,” Caleb said. “Very chatty. Will definitely steal your watch just for the thrill of it,” Caleb corrected.

“Okay,” Lamont replied, his voice indicating that he was still confused.

Woodhouse shrugged. “Anyway, Chanté says our target’s already in town for his regularly scheduled big gay pilgrimage, but we can’t confirm his whereabouts. So that’s our first objective.”

“Yeah, I’m on that,” Caleb said.

“You what?”

Caleb opened the laptop next to him on the table; using the opportunity to turn just a bit further away from Lamont. “I’ve been looking for any online footprint for Aaron Setter not produced by a law enforcement agency. It’s been difficult since these white supremacist nutjobs also tend to enjoy living off the grid. But a man living a secret gay lifestyle in the middle of a born-again stronghold can’t live too far off the grid, you know? At least not when he’s coming to the big city to get his rocks off.”

“Smart,” Lamont breathed.

Caleb’s fingers stilled for barely half a second at that deep tenor. He took a deep breath before he continued. “Anyway, I didn’t find much, but I found the only thing that matters.”

“Which is?” Woodhouse asked impatiently.

“A cell phone.”

Lamont and Woodhouse leaned forward in their seats.

Caleb couldn’t help the smug smile that spread across his face. He looked at Woodhouse, “Aaron has a pay-as-you-go cell phone that he bought in Cincinnati three years ago. He only uses it when he’s here, I’m assuming to make it easier to get some ass.”

“And?”

“And I hacked into the phone provider’s website. I can’t pull any information like texts or calls from the phone remotely, but I can track it when it’s on.”

“And?” Lamont asked.

“And it’s on. He’s at his downtown hotel right now. So whenever he moves, we just need to follow his signal.”

Woodhouse clapped his hands together and leaned back in his chair, “Well all fucking right!” He stood from his chair with a smile on his face. “Looks like you really are worth the highway robbery you’re committing on our bank accounts.”

Caleb sat back in his chair, crossed his right leg over his left and plucked a phantom piece of lint from his slacks.
