This visit with Axle has been a real doozy. The last thing I wanted to do was to come across as a real weakling. The fact the bank is foreclosing on the house was something I knew was coming, but I did not want to learn about it in such a public place. How embarrassing. Axle has got to think I am a real loser. We just need to find Jeremy. He’s the loser.

I guess there was the fun time showing him Poogy. She always brings a smile to my face. Her wrinkles and eagerness and happiness to see me make me smile.

“I have been little fun this visit, have I?” I say, looking into the distance.

“Having fun is not what this is about. We need to find your ex and take care of business. Maybe then we can have fun,” he says with a mildly surprised look on his face. I get the impression he said something he felt but did not want me to hear. But it did my heart good.

“Sure. I’m in favor of that. Do you have any ideas?”

“Yes, but they are something I need to take care of. I will get back to you later today. Let’s have some breakfast.”

“Sounds good to me. What do you suggest?”

“Kiwi, Get us a Pitchers Mound and a Lite Spanish Omelet. And large orange juices. Thanks.”

I look at the bar and see a curvy early twenties blond bombshell give a thumbs-up to Axle and a smile to me. She turns and heads to the back. Ten minutes later, I eat the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I just remembered I haven’t eaten in nearly two days. Things are a little financially tighter than I have let on to Axle. That breakfast fills me up just right and my spirits lift just as I am sure my face has lit up. It’s good getting back to feeling normal. I just keep burning to have Max. I don’t want to make a bad impression on him. Oh, what the hell. I look directly at him.

“Since I will be moving into one of your apartments, maybe you could show me around?” I say with a small grin, hoping he will not notice I am slightly trembling.

“Hm, yeah sure, if you’d like I can do that.” A sincere look appears on his face, giving me the impression he thinks he is providing a charitable service for me. Little does he know that’s exactly what he is about to do. If he agrees.
