Period 8: Jesus’ Appearances After His Resurrection

Jesus appeared on a number of occasions to one or more of His followers and disciples after His resurrection. The most detailed description is of Jesus’ appearance to the disciples on the shore of the Sea of Galilee (John 21:1–14), where Jesus, the Great Physician, heals the wound left in Peter’s soul by his denial of Jesus before His crucifixion.

To the Eleven (John 20:26–31) a week later; Thomas present

To the Seven at the Sea of Galilee (John 21)

To the Eleven (and 500?) in Galilee (Matthew 28:16–20)

To James (1 Corinthians 15:7), time and place unknown.

Final appearance and Ascension (Mark 16:19; Luke 24:44–53; Acts 1:3)

Later, Jesus made a special appearance to Paul (Acts 9:3–5)
