As I pull on my leggings, I think back to last night. Did I imagine the connection between me and John? No, I’m sure I didn’t. There’s definitely something there. I wasn’t looking to get involved with anyone yet, but when is the right time? There is no set time, because you can’t plan for feelings, or fate, or have any idea who might walk into your life.

Listen to me; fate, feelings, chance. I sound like a character from a soppy romantic novel. I smile to myself as I pull a T-shirt over my head. One date and I’m behaving as if I’ve met the love of my life. But I once thought Will was the love of my life and look how that ended. I push the thought away; I’m not going to allow the past to ruin my future. I slip my feet into my trainers, tie the laces, and pull my tracksuit top on. As I slip my phone into my pocket, it chirrups and I glance at it to see it’s a message from John.
