The weekend passed too soon. I am so glad that I got to spend time with my family and friends, and Olivia. Wow, did it really happen. It almost feels like a dream.

Olivia is a really good nurse and an even better friend. Too bad I didn’t meet her earlier in life. The way she says Gabriela, that was too cute. I remember the last day at the cabin when we went for a swim, Olivia was scared at first, or maybe she thought it was not right to go swimming with her patient, but eventually she gave in.

Aunt Amy can really convince anyone to do anything. She is just annoyingly pushy, and sometimes a nuisance but dad invites her to all family events. Her presence has become mandatory because even dad knows that not inviting her would technically lead to war in the family.

She’s the kind of person who always wants to be everywhere even though she doesn’t get along with her own siblings sometimes. And especially my mom, she tells me how aunt Amy was in her younger years. Always on the go, always fighting and arguing with people, she never gave my mom the respect she deserved and would always find ways to point out her flaws. She was the reason my dad moved out of their family home and moved here, but after that, as he grew older, he made a truce with his entire family.

As a father, he has made many sacrifices and tried his best to keep the family together. Sometimes, I doubt I could ever be a father as great as he is. Despite the burden of his business, he always makes sure to be present for us kids no matter what.

I guess mom was right about dad needing a helping hand with the business. He is growing old after all and I think perhaps Clark could really make himself useful, being the eldest son to the family.

I remember the day mom asked Clark to accompany dad on his business trips. My dad was beyond happy, he was always look toward his sons to eventually take over his business so he could retire in peace, but Clark was not ready. Clark is never ready to take on any responsibilities.

If it was up to Clark he would only be at the club, drunk till four in the morning with his girlfriends. He is a nice guy, but responsibilities are not for him. If I were to compare Clark and Daniel, I think Daniel would talk more maturely than Clark ever could, even though he is the first born.

I think if I was not diagnosed, I would probably be working with dad right now. But fate had other plans, and I got the time to set up my own thing. At this point, I have no desire to take over dad’s business because I know it has flaws, and if one must take over, they will be responsible for all the future mistakes and will be expected to fix them as well.
